If computer security and
privacy have not been much of a priority for you so far, we'll help you
change your ways. It is very important that you do, as the saying "better
safe than sorry" has rarely been more
accurate than on the Internet. In the process, we'll show
you how to keep your system from getting bogged
down in unneccessary and unwanted files and programs, allowing you to keep it "lean
and mean". Fortunately, your time investment will be small and the cost
minimal - and in the process you'll become a more savvy computer
user.
Software
We have spent hundreds of hours finding and testing
all kinds of security related software, and continue to do so. This
includes the "premium" commercial software and bundled products that serve
many neds. But we als put special emphasis on free alternatives - to the
degree that as a private user, you will have no problem covering
all your security needs for free.
This means giving
you free access to the following types of software:
- Antivirus
- Firewalls
- Anti
spyware
- Spam
- Backup
- Encryption
- Password creation, testing and management
- Secure deletion
- Safe surfing
- "Windows washing" and maintenance
All programs are legal, full versions with no
restrictions. They are free for private use; companies and
professionals may be required to pay a small amount subsequent to
a trial period for some programs. Of course, leading commercial software
alternatives are recommended when they are superior (which is
rarely).
Advice

Offering free software
for download is
all well, but hardly enough. We'll explain why and
how to use the programs and comment on their pros and
cons. We keep ourselves in tune with updates and new software,
and are always happy to get suggestions on new programs for testing (open source, freeware,
donationsware and commercial products. Adware etc. is of no interest to
us).
In
addition, there is a lot of things that are useful to know that are not
directly software related. Common sense goes a long way even in terms of
computer use, privacy and the Internet, while the software is how we carry
it out. We'll help you with both.
